Barbara Gorman has over a decade of experience in the field of human resources. At Sam Schwartz, she is responsible for leading the overall human resource strategy, talent acquisition, leadership development, diversity and inclusion, organizational development, compensation and benefits, HR operations, and employee relations and retention. She has successfully partnered with senior management to align HR strategy and programs to meet key business goals in all stages of the business cycle.

She has overseen the execution of more effective and streamlined companywide practices such as new employee orientation/on-boarding programs and recruiting initiatives.

Barbara is also an adjunct Professor at Plaza College teaching courses in business concept, human resources management and career development. Prior to joining Sam Schwartz, she was a Senior Human Resources Business Partner at a global engineering company.

Barbara has a PHR, SHRM-SCP certification through the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM). She holds a master’s degree in human resources management and organizational development from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Pace University.

What is your favorite activity outside of work?

I’m currently learning how to play Pickleball, a sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. I recently joined a league and find myself getting to be a better player—just need to keep my eye on the ball…
