Janet Campbell

Senior Vice President + Director of Pedestrian Management

Janet Campbell created and leads SSE’s Pedestrian Management Group. Pedestrian Management began as a service that SSE ran through the NYPD, providing traffic and Pedestrian Management for malls and business improvement districts.

Prior to working at SSE, Campbell was Chief Administrative Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds at the College of Staten Island. From 1994 to 1996, she was Administrative Officer, Logistics & Communications Service for Department of Peace-Keeping Operations at the United Nations, where she was also Chief Plant Engineer from 1990 to 1994. During her service at the United Nations, Campbell was responsible for the maintenance program and successfully re-organized the $7 million operation including creating a PM tour to improve mechanical maintenance repairs.

Previously, at the New York City Department of Transportation, Campbell was Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Bridge Bureau, from 1988 to 1990 and the first women to be appointed as Chief Borough Engineer for the Traffic Bureau in 1981. Campbell has a BA in Urban Planning and Economics from Briarcliff College, a Masters in Public Administration from St. John's University and a Masters in Transportation Engineering from Polytechnic Institute.
